Environmental protection
Being a chemical company, ANWIL S.A. inevitably draws on natural resources for its activity. Nevertheless, following the principles of the idea of sustainable development, the company has prepared and implemented a strategy ensuring the maximum levels of safety, employee’s health and the environment protection by applying the highest standards of the technology and production processes for its operation.
The company’s consistent ecological investments have been strengthened by the implementation of international environmental programmes, as well as the environmental management system ISO 14001.
Recent years have seen a number of significant projects and activities which add to the overall idea of the environment protection by minimising the negative environmental impact of the technological processes, enabling energy savings and facilitating “green” waste management.
The voluntary act of incorporating the issues of the natural environment protection in its strategy is a clear indication of ANWIL deep concern for the quality of water (decreased sewage impurity), air (dust emission) and soil (waste management). We are fully aware of the need for embedding such activities and ideas in our market operation strategy. Such an explicitly green approach is flaunted by the company by means of a variety of information tools and channels: the website, the annual report, the ecological report. Additionally, the local community receives profound information concerning ecological activities undertaken by the company during numerous meetings held in the company premises within the framework of “Open Doors” or “Open Days” initiatives (students and teachers), the “Tree for a Bottle” action, seminars and competitions attended by ANWIL representatives, and last but not least, during the Ecological Skills Academy. The company’s policy and activities in the field have also been promoted during POLEKO fairs where ANWIL S.A. has been present for many years with a shared exposition prepared together with other chemical plants which have joined the “Responsible Care” programme.
